The new Kawasaki Z1000 is powered by a 1,043cc, in-line four-cylinder engine producing nearly 140 BHP @10,000rpm and gives a peak torque of 111Nm @7,300rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox which is used to send power to the rear wheels.
The 2017 edition of the Z1000 features a remapped ECU setup which allows a smoother delivery of power and it is combined with a new evaporator system and few changes has been done to the main and pre-catalytic converters which mean that the new Z1000 is compliant with Euro-IV and BS-IV emission norms.

The increased travel at the rear is made easy by a modified linkage ratio. The brake pads for the rear brakes have also been changed for improved brake bite. Other features on the new 2017 Kawasaki Z1000 include a new 5-way adjustable clutch lever, gear position indicator in the digital speedometer and a new shift up indicator which advises riders when to shift up a gear.
Along with the Kawasaki Z1000, the New Z1000 R Edition is also launched. This Z1000 R Edition adds a set of 310mm Brembo stainless steel brakes which feature lateral grooves for improved heat dissipation, and are gripped by a pair of Brembo M50 monobloc calipers. Providing brake fluid to the new front discs are a set of stainless steel braided brake lines for improved performance and consistency. The rear brake is a 250mm single disc unit.

The Z1000R Edition comes with a new Öhlins S46DR1S, fully adjustable shock absorber at the rear with remote preload adjuster. The front suspension’s hardware remains the same, however, Kawasaki claims that the settings have been revised to ensure it matches the rear Ohlins’ action. The 2017 Kawasaki Z1000 R Edition comes with its own paint scheme which comes with vivid green and yellow graphics along with a new seat with the R logo embossed on it. The Z1000 is available in two different colour options: Metallic Spark Black and Golden Blazed Green while the R Edition also sports two colour schemes: Metallic Spark Black and Metallic Graphite Gray.
